A Season of Psalms - Psalm 4:8
“But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him.”
English Standard Version (ESV)
“Can you hear me now?” That was the question that Paul Marcarelli asked Verizon users. Now he’s joined up with Verizon’s competition: Sprint. In Psalm 4, David didn’t need to ask God, “Can you hear me now?” He was confident when he offered his petitions to the Lord that he would be heard, because “the Lord has set apart the godly for himself.”
Do you ever feel like your prayers go unanswered? Sometimes we think that God won’t hear us because we’ve fallen short of his standards. If we have trusted in His Son Jesus for our salvation, then we have been forgiven, and we can approach the throne of God with boldness. Since Christ is our great High Priest and intercedes for us on our behalf, God will listen to us. God hears and answers, although His answers may not be what we expect or want.
The prophet Jeremiah was told by God, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” The promise is for us as well. If we’ll faithfully call on our God, never doubting and having faith that He will answer, He will show us great and glorious things. Will you call on Him today?
