A Season of Psalms - Psalm 56:9
“This I know, that God is for me.”
English Standard Version (ESV)
Are you ready for some football? Football season is upon us, and it’s that time of year when we celebrate the victories and wail in agony over the defeats of our favorite team. We’ll expend a great amount of time and energy cheering and rooting on the team we’re “for” and booing the team we’re “against.” All in a Christ-like manner, of course! Who are you cheering for this year?
Is God a football fan? Maybe. But He’s an even bigger fan of YOU, His child. He’s for you. He loves you. He’s proud of your accomplishments. His heart weeps when you weep; His spirit rejoices when you rejoice. Your victories are some of His proudest moments, and He bursts with pride when the fruit of godliness is produced in your life. Even when we falter in our walk and make terrible mistakes, God is still for you. When you said “yes” to a life of faith by accepting the free gift of eternal life through Jesus, He cheered. Oh yes, God is for you! We can be assured of His great pleasure in us when we invite King Jesus into our heart to be Lord of our life.
Football season is great, but the God we serve is greater still. Our teams may disappoint us, but we will never be disappointed by God. He’s on our side. He’s faithful and true. Never will He leave us, never will He forsake us. And best of all, He wins in the end. How great is our God!

Pray with me:
Father, thank you for loving me with an everlasting love, for drawing me close to your side and never letting go. You are my Strength when I am weak, You are the Treasure that I seek, You are my all in all. May I magnify You this day in Jesus’ name, Amen.
